I’m mid way through my 7th month of getting started and I finally settled on a law firm to get this start up party founded. I have their letter of engagement sitting in front of me and it occurred to me for the first time since I decided I was going to start my own company, how real this is.
It has been a long road figuring out the idea, the customer, the business, the market, finding partners, building a product, drafting a pitch deck, firing partners, finding a new partner, finding a law firm, etc, etc. That has all been very real and very hard work, but for some reason none of it felt real until I had this 3 page letter of engagement.
Starting your own company is really stressful, you have to love doing it or it will destroy you. That is why I’m writing this blog. Not because I think anyone will think it was helpful, let alone read the thing. This blog is a creative outlet for me to alleviate the stresses of starting a company, being married, raising a toddler, and paying a mortgage… and fine… I do want people to read this and find it useful — even though i’m pretty sure my writing suxors — and maybe they can learn from my mistakes and hopefully successes.
